There are many options for Umrah now, but we will briefly explore how to create your own DIY Umrah in Ramadan 2025 package.

Umrah in Ramadan is the most expensive time to visit the Holy Cities, but as we know, it is also the most rewarding. It is the equivalent of Hajj with the Prophet PHUB. 

Usually, Umrah is cheaper at the start of Ramadan than at the end of the last 10 nights. The best way to book the last 10 nights, especially for 5-star hotels near Haram, is to use points. I discuss this and how you how in my book or the other option is to book hotels further away from the Haram. 

This year, Ramadan will fall between the 28th of February and the 29th of March 2025 approximately.

When Should You Start Booking Umrah in Ramadan?

After helping over 1.5 million Muslims in the last 10 years on Umrah planning, I can say that there is a certain timeline to maximise your savings.

Planning Ramadan Umrah Timeline

1. 8-9 months before:
   • Start researching hotels and flights
   • Join airline and hotel loyalty programs
   • Check visa requirements
2. 6-8 months before:
   • Book refundable hotel rooms
   • Monitor flight prices using Google Flights
   • Begin saving loyalty points
3. 3-4 months before:
   • Book flights (flexible tickets recommended)
   • Confirm hotel bookings
   • Arrange transportation

I always say that when it comes to planning an Umrah, you should start your plan and strategy early but book sort of late.

Let me explain.

I always monitor hotel and flight prices, and I book rooms that I can cancel provisionally about 6 to 8 months in advance. I use Google Flights or the Skyscanner monitor option.

With flights, this is also very much an option, and you can book flex tickets.

This gives me the opportunity to have hotels and prices that I can cancel and rebook if they fluctuate.

Ramadan Umrah Packages 2025

As always, the first two weeks of Ramadan are cheaper when it comes to flights and hotels. This is no surprise, and I actually prefer that time because it is less busy and crowded.

I can predict, based on my last year’s experience that the crowds for Ramadan 2025 during Umrah will be close to what Hajj is. Crazy!

These packages are always put together for 10 days. You are welcome to change them and adapt them as examples.

One of my favourite ways to break, especially on trips with children, is to arrive in Medinah and then take the train to Makkah once we have rested and are ready to spiritually enjoy our Umrah. Planning an Umrah can be stressful even more due to the emotional toll and the crowds.

Hotels for Ramadan Umrah 2025

Let me start by saying there is no magic website or way to find the best hotel deals. You will really need to look everywhere and check multiple times a week. Always clear your cookies to make sure you are not overcharged. 

Hotels during Ramadan are usually the most expensive. There are millions of Muslims visiting each year, making the prices go higher, and the best way to actually find hotel prices is to start early but also not too early. 

• No single website consistently offers the best deals
• Compare multiple platforms
• Set realistic budgets based on destination and season
• Consider properties further from Haram for better value
• Balance comfort versus distance based on your budget
• Take advantage of seasonal sales (Black Friday, Christmas)

Considering all the above, let’s look at some hotels that offer good value for Makkah and the best options for Medinah during Ramadan 2025. 

Makkah Hotels Umrah in Ramadan

4th to 8th of March 2025

Makkah Last Nights

The last 10 nights of Ramadan are the most expensive. The 5 star hotels in the Haram area are close to £1000 per night. Which is why I always recommend using my book and booking those on points. It is not as easy as book and go but if you learn how loyalty programs work  it can save you thousands on repeat. I have saved over £20,000 in the last 10 years in Ramadan doing this. 

The other option will be which is of course not DIY Umrah to book a package with an agent who has special rates and groups. This although still pricier will be cheaper than booking the hotels alone.

Medinah Hotels for Ramadan Umrah

Medinah has fewer options when it comes to hotels for Umrah. But some are decently priced for this Ramadan. 

17th to 22nd of March 

• 4★ Pullman Zamzam Madina £1500 – 5 nights – walking distance to Prophet’s mosque 
• 3★ Taiba Madinah Hotel £1250 – 5 nights – walking distance 
• 3★ Mysk Touch Al Balad £950 – 5 nights – walking distance

Transportation Costs & Options

What is the Cost of Umrah in Ramadan 2025?

A DIY Umrah package in Ramadan 2025 costs between £850-£1,100 per person from the UK. This includes flights (£199-£555), 5 nights in Makkah (£400-£1,520), 5 nights in Madinah (£950-£1,500), and transportation (approximately £135). First two weeks of Ramadan (February 28th – March 13th) offer better rates compared to the last 10 nights.

Overall your package will depend on your budget and how much you want to spend in Ramadan. I have a Youtube video with a booking example from last year which you can watch with tips if you are visual. Personally I would book the cheapest 4 star option because I do prioritise comfort and being close to the mosques for prayers as I have a young child.
