The Best Places to Experience a Magical Sunset in Dubai

One of my favourite things in the Middle East is the amazing colourful sunsets, some of my best sunsets are in Dubai and Doha. I am always in awe of the creator and the amazing colours of sunsets. The colours, the sky and the sheer power of it all is pretty amazing. So while you are in the area I totally think you should spend some time and enjoy at least one sunset in a city that you can easily forget it among the high skyscrapers.

Palm Jumeirah

The Best Places to Experience a Magical Sunset in Dubai

This world’s largest artificial archipelago is considered one of Dubai’s must-visit spots for good reasons. The sheer concept and design are impressive enough, but the palm-shaped creation also pampers visitors with pristine private beaches, theme parks, and luxurious hotels. Some of my best photos of the sunset are during my stay at the Waldorf Astoria overlooking the Palm and the Atlantis resort. If you want to know how to find luxury hotels on a budget there find the best hotel prices on Wego.ae; you’ll be spoilt for choice!

If on the other hand you are not too bothered and you just want to enjoy the sunset then you can take a taxi just in the early evening and drive close to the Atlantis or Waldorf Astoria, the area there has the best views of Dubai and sunset, and you can also enjoy a slow walk there. Make sure you have plenty of battery for photos.

Deira Creek

The Deira souqs are a must-visit place in Dubai but also make sure you stay for the incredible view and vibe at sundown. As the hustle and bustle around you wind down, watch the river and silver buildings facing it shimmer under the light. My favourite thing to do is to take a dhow cruise just before the sun is setting. The traditional fishing boat will carry you on a leisurely trip across the water, showing glimpses of Dubai heritage along the way.

Pro tip: Check out Groupon Dubai for amazing deals on Dhow night cruises. They start at sunset and are a great way to spend an evening.

Sunset Beach and Kite Beach

The aptly-named Sunset Beach in Jumeirah is an ideal setting to soak up the warm light of a setting sun in the city. A favourite among photographers and Insta-friendly visitors, Sunset beach perfect for a photo op with the impressive Burj Al Arab standing tall by the edge of the beach.

Sunset Beach has a more relaxed vibe to it. So, if you like your sandy playground to be a little bit livelier, opt for Kite Beach. The popular beach is positively bustling with activities, especially during the weekend: kitesurfing, yoga, paddle boarding—there’s so much to do here! And after a full day of fun, kick back and relax while you watch the sun retreat for the day.

Pro Tip: You can also enjoy dinner in one of the restaurants in the area while admiring the sunset

 Burj Khalifa

The Best Places to Experience a Magical Sunset in Dubai

For a sunset-watching experience like nothing else, head to the tallest building in the world. Burj Khalifa. The observation decks are on level 125 and 148. If you feel like going all out, the latter is a pretty prime spot to catch the sunset over Dubai Skyline and the premium ticket gives you access to level 125 deck as well.

In the mood to splurge? Bur Khalifa also houses the tallest restaurant in the world, At.mosphere, at level 122 while you watch the orange sun glistens on the horizon.

Pro Tip: Make sure you book well in advance as these spots are very popular. Last time we went we had to wait five days for a spot. So don’t be me, be prepared and book in advance.

 Al Qudra Lake

The Best Places to Experience a Magical Sunset in Dubai

There is no better sunset than a desert sunset this is a real-life fact. You can have many options when visiting the area; you should definitely visit Al Qudra Lake. An oasis the middle of the city, Al Qudra is a cluster of man-made lakes surrounded by dunes of Seih Al Salam desert and Bab Al Shams. Al Qudra is home to wildlife, including over 130 species of birds and several desert creatures like camels and antelopes, which makes it a uniquely picturesque place to have a picnic or even camp. As it is outside the city you will need a car for this, if you are looking to rent one and drive it is not as scary as it might look.

Another option will be to book a desert safari with one of the many tour guides and spend the evening in the desert. This was my best experience so far, and I love the views which are incredible during sunset when the sun imparts a golden glow to everything it touches

Sunset, clouds and nature are some of the best things in life that are free to enjoy and also remind me of the beauty of the creator and the reason why I love travelling. No sunset is the same around the world even though the sun is the same which is pretty amazing if you ask me.

Let me know your favourite sunset views in the comments.
