This is my review of the Haramain train business class lounge in Makkah. First, I may say that I always rush to the train, so I never even pay attention to the fact that there is a lounge. I actually laughed because if you have been reading this blog, you know lounges are my favourite things.
Haramain Train Business Class Lounges Locations
The Haramain train, for which I have a comprehensive article with reviews and information on booking, offers two classes: business class and economy. Business class lounges are available for everyone with a business class ticket on the day, and booking in advance provides good value for money, in my opinion. You can purchase a business class Haramain ticket for as little as £25.
Every train station in Makkah, Jeddah, including the airport and Medinah, has a business class lounge for passengers.
Haramain Business Class Lounge Makkah
The Makkah lounge is located on the top once you enter the station. It has signs to guide you, so you can’t miss it.
When we visited around lunchtime, it was busy with travellers. But still, you would make yourself comfortable.
At the reception, you only have to show your business class ticket, and you are good to enter the Haramain train business class lounge in Makkah.
There is a seating area outside the main lounge just off the reception. I feel this was created because this lounge can get busy during peak travel season.
Once inside the main lounge area, you will see a display of things you can buy and read.
The Haramain train business class lounge is actually a really nice area, albeit it is not very big. It is open to the train station, so you can see the ground floor. It also has nice decor, and you can tell the seating and displays are of good quality.
Generally it feels they did put effort into creating this business class lounge for train passengers. Considering that Middle Easten people enjoy VIP status, I am not surprised.
The seating area consists of tables and sofas. There are several seating areas, charging options, and high chairs available if you want to work.
It can be a struggle to move, however, if you have luggage with you, as many people travel with several bags. Just leave them on the side to avoid clogging the area around the tables.
Food at Business Class Makkah Train Lounge
When we visited, there were not many hot food options. I think they must have been changing the food because you can find a lot of finger foods and dry snacks that are not hot.
I expected a little better because the Middle East loves its lounges, but I guess we got them at a bad time. You could still get yourself drinks, some snacks coffee and tea.
Overall, I liked the lounge, and since it is included in your ticket price, I highly recommend you visit, grab yourself a drink and enjoy your train ride. Business class passengers also get food on the train, so keep that in mind and check out our Haramain train guide.
