How was your experience wearing hijab in Palermo? I’ll be traveling there solo and in hijab and I’m a bit anxious about it!
Loving your site btw, it’s def going to be added to my list of travel references/guides!

Hi! Given the recent incidents which have been taking place in Italy, could you confirm if it is still a safe place for Muslims to visit? Both myself and my friend wear a hijab and are thinking of going next year for about 10 days , so was wondering which areas would be ideal and which to avoid? Also, if its safe to still be out at night?

Muslim Travel Girl

Hello, thank you for writing an informative article. I am going to visit Genoa for 2 days, prior to a conference (in University of Genoa) I need to attend this September and I know nothing about Italy, especially Genoa. Is it a safe place to visit, specifically for a hijabi Muslim? Or are there any halal places? Do you happen to know places to pray?
I am sorry for giving you so many questions.
Thank you.
Muslim Travel Girl
Salams, yes it is safe and I am sure you can find some halal food options. Just check out Zabiha.com for more info on restaurants.

I have booked for me and my husband to go to Milan in October, I know the weather isn’t great then but I struggle look for cheap holidays that are during school holidays as I work in a school and the prices are always more extrotiante compared to other off peak times. Are they any hotels/villas you can recommend? And also for halal food is there anything available?

hey there
I loved reading your article. My husband and I plan to take a trip to italy with our 22 month old baby this august .The places we intend to visit are Amalfi(capri and ana capri),rome, venice, florence,Milan. We are from UAE and are so looking forward to the trip
my concern is that this is our first ever europe trip and is planned with a travel company. But given the sad situation around the world we are a bit tensed travelling as a muslim family.i am a hijabi and i know it reveals my religion.
can you please tell me if my concerns are genuine and also i understand that these places are halal friendly …but i would like to know if these place are muslim friendly too?
please don’t get me wrong …like i said travelling from ME to europe first time.hence the concern.hopefully you will prove my concerns wrong…:D
Muslim Travel Girl
Salams, i can safely say you will be OK. The places you are going are very popular with Muslims and there are no issues. You can find halal restaurants as well so it should be ok. I am sure the travel agency can point to some? I do have some options for Italy so just search on the blog about restaurants.
Italians are used to Muslims and there are plenty of tourists around, i am sure you will have lovely time and enjoy Europe 🙂
