One of the most visited countries in the world is India. Colourful, bright and welcoming it makes for a great experience and adventure.

There have been always safety concerns but recently I have started to see many solo females and couples explore India without the prejudice associated with it. The reviews and recommendations are super positive so I knew it is time we explore some of this beautiful country especially when it comes to visiting India as a Muslim tourist.

We all know that travelling can be incredibly rewarding, enriched with experiences and memories to cherish for a lifetime. Since I am planning a trip to India with my mum soon I thought I will share some of the best places for Muslims to visit in India especially with the cheap flights on Wego.co.in.

India has a rich history and culture with the landscape stretching from misty Himalayan mountains in the North to the tropical greenery down South till the tip of the Indian Ocean, India is the land of rich heritage and ethnic diversity. Having a large Muslim population, you get to witness some of the finest mosques and holy shrines all over the country. While at it, you will also marvel at the beauty of the Indo-Islamic architecture.

A descend from North to South makes your trip across India easier. Apparently, every place you visit has a history of its own.

Jama Masjid, Delhi

The Jama Masjid in Delhi is the largest mosque in India, with a courtyard that holds about 25000 people during prayers. This is one of the highly decorative ancient mosques, constructed with red stone and white marble. It is known for its architectural grandeur and pious ambience.

India Gate, Red Fort, Humayun’s Tomb and the astounding Qutub Minar are few of the many other attractions in the capital.

Taj Mahal, Agra

The Taj Mahal, located in Yamuna river bank, is the famous tourist attraction of India. It is one the best Islamic architectures and iconic monuments in the world. This is not only a mausoleum but a mosque too. The mausoleum is made out of white marble while the mosque in red sandstone. The exterior of both the buildings exhibit elegant carvings. The intricacy of the designs and the Quran calligraphy etched on the walls are exquisite. Visiting Taj in itself is an experience.

With less crowd and serene morning, you will get to marvel the beauty during the sunrise and a pleasant stroll in the garden too. There are Agra Fort and Fathehpur Sikhri to sight-see in the city.

Jummah Mosque, Ahmedabad

The Jama Masjid, one of the ancient mosques constructed in the 15th century, still stands tall and tells tales of its rich heritage. The yellow sandstone structure and nearly 200 intricately carved pillars form a spectacular view inside. The highlight of the mosque is the interplay of sunlight and shadows that keep playing between the archways and windows.

Another ancient mosque in Ahmedabad is Siddi Sayyedi Mosque, famous for its unique architectural beauty. Elaborately carved latticework above the arch windows marks its grandeur. In the midst of a bustling old city, these mosques welcome curious travelers and pious devotees.

Haji Ali Dargah, Mumbai

Away from the busy lifestyle, Haji Ali Dargah, a spiritual landmark in Mumbai, offers the most mystical experience. The shrine’s white dome and minarets appear majestic in the middle of the Arabian sea. Surrounded by water, the view of the dargah is a breathtaking sight to behold. This is a place that epitomizes serenity and divinity.

Mysore Palace and Gardens

Mysore is a land of palaces and gardens. The Mysore Palace has a fascinating architecture. The interior is adorned with aesthetic stonework, wooden arches and old paintings. While the palace stands magnificently during the day, it is tastefully illuminated with the series of lights at night. When the palace lights up the night sky, the grandeur of the Mysore Palace elevates into next level.

Brindavan Garden mesmerizes everyone. It is not just about the walk in the park but the dancing fountain that comes to life during the sunset is the main attraction here.

Charminar, Hyderabad

Charminar is the gateway to Hyderabad. This iconic mosque is the centre of the city with four well-crafted minarets. Its intricate stucco decorations and unique symmetrical structure make this monument a traditional Islamic architecture. Mecca Mosque, located nearby is one of the oldest and beautiful mosques in India.

Kerala Backwaters

Kerala is well known for its pleasant weather, picturesque landscapes, national sanctuaries, beaches and lakes, breathtaking waterfalls and lush green mountains, making it a tropical paradise. While sinking in nature, there are lots of glorious mosques and shrines to stir your spiritual senses. Beema Pally in Trivandrum is one of the prominent mosques in South.

Munnar, Wayanad, Cochin Fort, Kovalam beach are some of the notable holiday spots. A trip to Kerala is incomplete without the idyllic Backwater Cruise in Alapuzha. Halal Food

India is known for their flavoured curries and spices. You will get to taste a variety of mouthwatering cuisines, both Veg and Non-Veg, throughout the country. And the food is Halal almost everywhere since most of the meat is handled by Muslims. However, care should be taken before you dine out.
